In South Africa, people mostly just call it Christmas Day , the same as in many other English‑speaking countries. In Afrikaans, it is widely called “Kersfees,” which literally means “Christmas feast” or “Christ’s feast.”

Because South Africa has 11 official languages, you’ll also hear other local names, like “uKhisimusi” in Zulu and “uKrismesi” in Xhosa, but “Christmas Day” and “Kersfees” are the most common terms overall.
