Team origin

The Jacksonville Jaguars were awarded to the city of Jacksonville as an NFL expansion franchise in 1993 and began play in the 1995 season. They were created alongside the Carolina Panthers, joining as the league’s 30th team and initially competing in the AFC Central before moving to the AFC South in 2002.

City and home stadium

The team is based in the northeastern Florida city of Jacksonville, a major port and metro area on the Atlantic coast. The Jaguars play their home games at the stadium currently known as EverBank Stadium (previously TIAA Bank Field), located along the St. Johns River in downtown Jacksonville.
