‘Keeping children safe in education’ (KCSIE) is made up of 5 main parts in its current form.

Quick Scoop

Here’s how those 5 parts are structured in the statutory guidance:

  1. Part 1 – Safeguarding information for all staff.
  1. Part 2 – The management of safeguarding (leadership, policies, governance).
  1. Part 3 – Safer recruitment (checks, vetting, appointments).
  1. Part 4 – Safeguarding concerns and allegations about staff, including supply staff, volunteers and contractors.
  1. Part 5 – Child‑on‑child sexual violence and sexual harassment.

Although there are also several annexes (for example Annex A and Annex B) with extra detail and summaries, these do not count as additional “parts” – the document is still described officially as having 5 parts.
