The traditional Rosary has four sets of Mysteries (Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, Glorious), and each set has 5 mysteries prayed in order. When people say β€œwhat are the 5 mysteries of the Rosary in order,” they almost always mean one full set of five. Here are all four sets, each in order:

Joyful Mysteries (5 in order)

  1. The Annunciation
  2. The Visitation
  3. The Nativity (Birth of Jesus)
  4. The Presentation in the Temple
  5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

Luminous Mysteries (5 in order)

  1. The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
  2. The Wedding at Cana
  3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
  4. The Transfiguration
  5. The Institution of the Eucharist

Sorrowful Mysteries (5 in order)

  1. The Agony in the Garden
  2. The Scourging at the Pillar
  3. The Crowning with Thorns
  4. Jesus Carries His Cross
  5. The Crucifixion

Glorious Mysteries (5 in order)

  1. The Resurrection
  2. The Ascension
  3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost)
  4. The Assumption of Mary into Heaven
  5. The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth

Most prayer guides then tell you which set of 5 to use on each day (e.g., Joyful on Monday/Saturday, Sorrowful on Tuesday/Friday, Glorious on Wednesday/Sunday, Luminous on Thursday).
