ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

It was originally the official name for the combined corps of Australian and New Zealand troops formed in late 1914 and first made famous during the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. Over time, “Anzac” has also come to refer more broadly to the soldiers themselves and to the enduring tradition of service and sacrifice commemorated each year on Anzac Day, 25 April.
