what does incognito mode do
Incognito mode mainly stops your browser from saving your local browsing history, cookies, site data, and form entries after you close the private window. It does not make you anonymous online, and websites, your ISP, school, or employer may still see your activity.
What it does
- Keeps browsing history off the device after the session ends.
- Helps if you’re using a shared computer and don’t want others to see what you searched.
- Reduces saved cookies and autofill data during that session.
What it does not do
- It does not hide you from the websites you visit.
- It does not stop your internet provider or network administrator from seeing traffic.
- It does not protect you from being tracked if you log in to an account.
Quick example
If you search for a gift on a shared laptop in incognito mode, that search won’t stay in the browser history after you close it. But the shop website and your network may still know you visited it.
Bottom line: incognito mode is useful for local privacy, not full online anonymity.
