The Battle of the Gullet is a major turning point in House of the Dragon : Team Black technically wins, but the cost is devastating, especially with Jacaerys Velaryon and Vermax dying in the fighting.

In Fire & Blood, the aftermath is similarly grim: thousands die, the Velaryon fleet is badly reduced, and Jacaerys’s death is felt as one of the most important losses of the war. The broad result is the same in both versions even where some details differ.
