what is deep fill on ge washer
Deep Fill on a GE washer is a setting that adds extra water to the wash cycle instead of relying only on the washer’s normal sensing fill. It’s mainly useful for bulky loads, heavily soiled items, or times when you want the clothes more fully submerged.
How it works
- One press usually adds about 3 extra gallons of water.
- Press and hold the button for 3 seconds on many models to fill the tub to the maximum water level.
- You can often increase the water level even after the cycle has started, as long as it’s still in the wash phase.
When to use it
- Bedding, towels, and other bulky loads.
- Loads that need more soaking or better coverage.
- Special cases, not everyday laundry for most people.
Important note
On many newer GE top-loaders, Deep Fill is not available on the Normal/Colors cycle because of energy rules, though it may be available on other cycles.
In simple terms, it’s a “more water” button for when the washer’s automatic fill feels too low.
