Fighting-type Pokémon are weak to three types: Flying, Psychic, and Fairy attacks, and they also struggle to hit Ghost types with their Fighting moves.

Main type advantages

  • Flying-type moves are super effective against Fighting types.
  • Psychic-type moves are super effective against Fighting types.
  • Fairy-type moves are super effective against Fighting types.
  • All three of these types also resist incoming Fighting-type moves, so they both hit hard and take reduced damage.

A simple example: using a Flying-type like Staraptor with Brave Bird, a Psychic-type like Alakazam with Psychic, or a Fairy-type like Gardevoir with Moonblast will usually put you in a very favorable matchup against a pure Fighting-type Pokémon.

  • Good Flying picks: Togekiss, Talonflame, Staraptor (Flying STAB, resistance to Fighting).
  • Good Psychic picks: Gardevoir, Alakazam, Espeon (high Special Attack, Psychic STAB).
  • Good Fairy picks: Gardevoir, Clefable, Sylveon (strong Fairy moves like Moonblast, Play Rough, Dazzling Gleam).
