The maximum number of recipients in a single Gmail message is 500 total for a standard Gmail account, counting To, Cc, and Bcc together. For Google Workspace, Google’s help page says a single message can have 2,000 total recipients , with a maximum of 500 external recipients.

Gmail limits at a glance

[4] [1]
Account type Per-message recipient limit Notes
Personal Gmail 500 total recipients To, Cc, and Bcc all count together
Google Workspace 2,000 total recipients Up to 500 external recipients per message

Practical note

That limit is for a single email, not a mailing-list workaround. Gmail also has daily sending limits, so even if you stay under the per-message cap, sending too many emails in a day can still trigger restrictions.

TL;DR: 500 recipients per message in regular Gmail; 2,000 in Google Workspace.
