For U.S. Powerball, you can pick 5 numbers from 1 to 69, plus 1 Powerball number from 1 to 26. You can choose your own numbers or use Quick Pick for a random set.

Pick format

A valid play looks like this:

  • 5 white-ball numbers: 1–69.
  • 1 red Powerball number: 1–26.

How people choose

Some players pick birthdays, anniversaries, or “lucky” numbers, but that only uses 1–31 for the main numbers, so it leaves out many higher numbers. Others use Quick Pick, which lets the lottery machine choose randomly.

  • 7, 18, 29, 44, 61 + Powerball 12.
