The “poop cruise” was the Carnival Triumph , which later was renamed Carnival Sunrise. The infamous incident was a 2013 cruise disaster after an engine-room fire left the ship without power and with unusable toilets.

What happened

The ship departed Galveston, Texas, bound for Cozumel, Mexico, but lost power after the fire and drifted for days before being towed to Mobile, Alabama. The nickname “poop cruise” came from the severe sanitation problems that followed.

Current name

After refurbishment, Carnival Triumph was renamed Carnival Sunrise in 2019.
