To turn a UNAS 2 back on after a shutdown, you generally need to restore power to it, because it does not have a typical front power button. In practice, that means reconnecting the PoE++ source or the power adapter, or toggling a smart plug back on if that’s how it’s powered.

What to do

  1. Make sure the shutdown has fully completed.
  2. Reapply power:
    • Re-enable the PoE++ port or injector.
    • Plug the power adapter back in.
    • Turn your smart plug back on if you use one.
  3. Wait for the device to boot and show status on the display.

Important note

If you only shut it down through the UniFi/Drive interface, it will stay off until power is physically restored or switched back on at the power source. Users discussing UniFi NAS devices also note that a smart plug is a common workaround for powering them back up remotely after shutdown.

Practical tip

If you expect to shut it down often, putting the UNAS 2 on a controlled smart plug or switched outlet makes restart much easier.
