The Kennedy Center’s last major completed renovation was the addition of the REACH expansion, which officially opened to the public in September 2019 as the most recent finished overhaul of the campus and its facilities.

More recently, in February 2026, President Donald Trump announced that the Kennedy Center will close for about two years starting July 4 for a new round of large-scale renovations, but that project has not yet been completed and is scheduled rather than “last” in the sense of being finished.
