The Proclamation of 1763 was issued on October 7, 1763, by King George III of Great Britain.

It came shortly after the end of the Seven Years’ War (also called the French and Indian War in North America) and was meant to organize Britain’s new territories in North America and limit colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains.
