where are lemurs found

Lemurs are naturally found only on the island of Madagascar and a few nearby islands in the Indian Ocean.
They evolved on Madagascar, off the east coast of Africa, and all truly wild lemur species live there in habitats ranging from rainforests to dry spiny deserts.
A few species, like some brown and mongoose lemurs, have also been introduced by humans to the nearby Comoros (also called Comoro) Islands, where small wild populations now live.
In zoos and wildlife parks, lemurs can be found worldwide, but in the wild, their real home is Madagascar and its immediate neighboring islands.
