The Cook Islands are located in the South Pacific Ocean, in the region of Oceania, about halfway between Hawaii and New Zealand and roughly 3,000 km (around 1,860 miles) northeast of New Zealand. They sit within the broader Polynesian region, between Samoa and Tonga to the west and French Polynesia (including Tahiti) to the east.
