where are your appendix
Your appendix is in the lower right side of your belly, where your small intestine meets your large intestine (the beginning of the colon).
Quick Scoop: Exact spot
- It’s a small, tube-shaped pouch attached to the first part of your large intestine (the cecum).
- On the outside of your body, doctors roughly line it up with a point between your belly button and your right hip bone (often called McBurney’s point).
- In most people it sits in the right lower abdomen, but the tip can curl in different directions (down into the pelvis, behind the colon, etc.).
How to picture it
Imagine tracing a line from your belly button to the front of your right hip bone; the appendix usually lives a bit closer to the hip on that line, tucked inside your lower-right belly.
If you ever have sudden, worsening pain that moves to the lower right side of your belly, especially with fever or nausea, get urgent medical help, as this can be a sign of appendicitis.
