Andrea Yates lived in the Houston, Texas area, specifically in the Clear Lake neighborhood of southeast Houston, at the time of the 2001 drownings of her five children. After she was found not guilty by reason of insanity, she was first committed to North Texas State Hospital in Vernon, Texas, and later transferred to Kerrville State Hospital in Kerrville, Texas, where she has continued to live under inpatient psychiatric care.
