where did the band pink floyd get their name

Pink Floyd got their name from two blues musicians Syd Barrett admired: Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. He combined their first names after the band had to quickly change names when another group was already using The Tea Set.

The band was briefly called The Pink Floyd Sound before the name was shortened to Pink Floyd.
