The Otoe (Otoe-Missouria) traditionally lived on the central plains along the Missouri River, mainly in what is now Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. Later, they were confined to a reservation along the Big Blue River on the Kansas–Nebraska border before being moved to what is now north-central Oklahoma, where the tribe is based today.
