Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean Sea just off the eastern coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, in the state of Quintana Roo, across from Playa del Carmen and south of Cancún.

It sits about 10–12 miles (16–19 km) off the mainland, separated by the Cozumel Channel, and is the largest inhabited island in the Mexican Caribbean.
