Dimona is a city in southern Israel, located in the Negev desert. It lies roughly 30–36 km southeast of Beersheba and about 35 km west of the Dead Sea, in Israel’s Southern District.

It sits at an elevation of around 550–600 meters above sea level and has a population of a little over 30,000 people. The Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center, often referred to as the Dimona reactor, is located about 13 km southeast of the city, which is why the name “Dimona” is frequently mentioned in discussions about Israel’s nuclear program and Middle East geopolitics.
