The pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain , just behind the bridge of your nose, in a small bony pocket of the sphenoid bone called the sella turcica.

It sits:

  • Directly below the hypothalamus , to which it’s attached by a thin stalk.
  • In the middle of the skull base, behind the nasal cavity and roughly between the eyes.

This tucked‑away position protects the gland while it acts as the body’s hormonal “master gland,” coordinating many other endocrine organs.
