where is the tibia

The tibia is the long bone in the lower part of your leg, commonly called the shinbone.
Quick Scoop
- It runs from just below your knee down to your ankle.
- It sits at the front and inner (medial) side of your lower leg, with the thinner fibula bone on the outer side.
- You have one tibia in each leg, and it bears most of your body’s weight when you stand, walk, or run.
If you tap the hard front part of your “shin,” you’re feeling your tibia.
