Backed up Samsung messages are usually accessed through Samsung Cloud on the phone itself, or through the Samsung Cloud web sign-in if message sync/backups are enabled on your account.

Where to look

  • On your Galaxy phone, go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Back up data under Samsung Cloud.
  • If messages were backed up there, you can restore them from Restore data on the same Samsung Cloud screen.
  • You can also sign in to Samsung Cloud on the web to see what data is synced or backed up across your Samsung devices.

Important note

  • Samsung’s own guidance says Samsung Cloud can back up messages , but not message attachments.
  • If you were using a different backup method, such as Google backup or Smart Switch, your messages may be stored there instead.

  1. Open Settings on the Samsung phone.
  2. Tap Accounts and backup.
  3. Tap Back up data or Restore data under Samsung Cloud.
  4. Check whether Messages is selected or available.
