To find netherite in Minecraft, mine ancient debris in the Nether, usually around Y-level 15; then smelt it into netherite scrap and combine 4 scraps with 4 gold ingots to make 1 netherite ingot. Ancient debris is the block you’re actually looking for, and it commonly appears between Y-levels 8 and 22, with Y-level 15 being a strong target.

Quick Scoop

  • Go to the Nether through a portal.
  • Dig around Y-level 15 for ancient debris.
  • Mine it with a diamond pickaxe or better.
  • Smelt ancient debris into netherite scrap.
  • Craft 1 netherite ingot from 4 scraps plus 4 gold ingots.

Best spots

Ancient debris is found deep in the Nether, not in the Overworld, and it tends to spawn in small veins of 1 to 3 blocks.

If you want a practical depth to start, aim for Y-level 15 and branch mine from there.

Faster mining

Many players use TNT or beds in the Nether because they can clear large areas quickly, but that also makes things riskier.

If you want the safer route, simple strip mining works fine, just slower.

Extra source

You can also sometimes find ancient debris, netherite scraps, or even netherite upgrade templates in bastion remnants.

That’s useful, but mining ancient debris is still the main way most players get netherite.
