Adolf Hitler was from Austria; he was born in the town of Braunau am Inn, in what was then Austria‑Hungary (now Austria), near the German border.

He spent much of his childhood in Austrian towns such as Linz before later moving to Germany, where he rose to power as the leader of the Nazi Party.
