The elements most commonly considered noble metals are:

  • Gold (Au)
  • Silver (Ag)
  • Platinum (Pt)
  • Palladium (Pd)
  • Rhodium (Rh)
  • Ruthenium (Ru)
  • Iridium (Ir)
  • Osmium (Os)

These are called β€œnoble” because they are highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation, so they stay shiny and unreactive in air and many chemicals.

Some chemists also include rhenium (Re), mercury (Hg), and sometimes even copper (Cu), but these are debated and appear only in extended lists.
