He was officially appointed head coach of Benfica in September 2025 on a deal running until summer 2027, returning to the club where he first briefly managed in 2000. Recent comments from Benfica president Rui Costa in February 2026 confirmed that Mourinho will remain in charge for the 2026/27 season as well.
