The founder of Buddhism is Siddhartha Gautama , also known as Gautama Buddha or simply the Buddha.

He was a spiritual teacher who lived in the 6th–5th century BCE in the region of present-day Nepal and northern India, and his teachings became the basis of the religion now known as Buddhism.
