Ethel Kennedy was married to Robert F. “Bobby” Kennedy, the U.S. senator and brother of President John F. Kennedy.

She married Robert F. Kennedy in a Catholic ceremony on June 17, 1950, and remained his wife until his assassination in 1968. She never remarried after his death, saying she wanted to devote herself to preserving his legacy.
