who was on apollo 11
The Apollo 11 mission had three astronauts on board:
- Neil Armstrong – Mission commander, and the first human to walk on the Moon.
- Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin – Lunar module pilot, who followed Armstrong to become the second person to walk on the Moon.
- Michael Collins – Command module pilot, who remained in lunar orbit in the command module Columbia while Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the Moon in the lunar module Eagle.
These three astronauts together made up the full crew of Apollo 11, the first mission to land humans on the Moon in July 1969.
