Savannah Guthrie’s father was Charles Guthrie , a mining engineer who died of a heart attack when Savannah was a teenager.

He worked in mining while the family lived in Australia before they later settled in Arizona. Savannah has spoken often about how close she was to her dad and how his sudden death when she was about 16 years old was “earth- shattering” for her and her siblings.
