The Beatles song “Golden Slumbers” was written by Paul McCartney, though it is officially credited to the joint songwriting partnership Lennon–McCartney.

McCartney based the lyrics on an old English lullaby poem called “Cradle Song,” written around 1599 by the playwright Thomas Dekker, adapting Dekker’s words but composing his own new melody.
