To work out your BMI, use your weight and height.

Formula

  • Metric: BMI = weight in kilograms ÷ height in metres squared.
  • Imperial: BMI = (weight in pounds × 703) ÷ height in inches squared.

Example

If you weigh 70 kg and are 1.70 m tall:

  • 1.70 × 1.70 = 2.89
  • 70 ÷ 2.89 = 24.2

What it means

BMI is a quick screening measure, not a full health diagnosis, and it does not always reflect body fat accurately.

Quick note

If you want, I can also calculate your BMI for you if you give me your height and weight.
