The former presidential candidate who once owned a cookie shop is George McGovern.

McGovern, the Democratic nominee for president in 1972, bought and ran a small cookie franchise called “Baby Boomers” in Connecticut after his political career, which became moderately well known as a quirky post-campaign chapter in his life.
