Here’s the current polling on UK rejoining the EU: support is around 55% in the latest YouGov tracking, with 34% opposed , and support has risen from 51% when that question format began in January 2024.

What the latest poll shows

YouGov’s page, updated on 17 June 2026 with data from 2–3 June 2026, says:

  • 55% support Britain rejoining the EU.
  • 34% oppose it.
  • 29% support keeping the current relationship as it is.
  • 21% support further loosening ties.

The catch

Support drops when rejoining is tied to giving up the UK’s old opt-outs. In earlier polling cited by The Guardian and YouGov’s reporting, support fell from 54% to 36% when rejoining meant accepting full EU rules such as the euro and Schengen.

Europe-wide mood

Recent polling also suggests strong support across much of the EU for the UK to rejoin, but usually not on the same terms as before. A June 2026 survey reported 66% of people across 15 EU countries backed the idea of UK membership, while many also wanted Britain to accept standard EU rules if it returned.

Take

The trend is clear: more people now favor rejoining than rejecting it, but enthusiasm is much softer once the trade-offs are made explicit.
