Push to mute in Discord is in User Settings > Keybinds. Click Add a Keybind , then choose Push to Mute from the action dropdown and assign your key. Discord’s own help post also notes that keybinds are found in User Settings and can be added with the “Add a Keybind” button.

Fast path

  1. Open Discord.
  2. Click the gear icon near your username.
  3. Go to Keybinds.
  4. Click Add a Keybind.
  5. Set the action to Push to Mute.
  6. Press the key you want to use.

Small note

If you don’t see it right away, scroll in the keybinds section and make sure the new keybind is enabled. Push to mute only works while you hold the key down, unlike toggle mute, which switches on and off with one press.

Quick difference

  • Push to Mute : hold the key to stay muted.
  • Toggle Mute : press once to mute, press again to unmute.
