Ox in RDR2 are usually found on farms and ranches, with Downes Ranch southwest of Valentine being a reliable spot. They can also appear at places like Emerald Ranch, Guthrie Farm, Braithwaite Manor, and Caliga Hall.

  • Guthrie Farm, where spawns may swap between ox and bull.

  • A small farm north of Saint Denis.

Hunting tip

For a perfect ox hide, use a bow with Improved Arrows or a long-scope rifle, and aim for a clean kill. If one location is empty, leave the area and come back later since farm animals can respawn after a bit of in-game time.

If you’re hunting for crafting, the ox is a massive animal, so treat it like a farm-livestock target rather than a wild spawn.
